My guess on what Moe is trying is to say, is to make the irises smaller so you can actually add the whites of her eyes in there.

On a somewhat similar note, her eyes could stand to be a ~bit~ smaller overall. Like I've said, usually big eyes = more childlike. That aside, her head looks rather bulbous in the back this time. Try, uh, "flattening" it out. Her facial structure is rather off, but I can't really describe how to fix it in words.. so.. I'll try to show you, instead, along with a couple of other things I noticed needed tweaking/fixing. (Her right breast was kinda sagging more than her left, and she's missing an ear.)

Excuse the sloppy edits. I'm using my mouse instead of my tablet.

Thank you and have a nice day!

Ok, so if I got a tablet, would it make cell shading easier? Or should I not get one and just do the shading in the scanned picture?

Thank you and have a nice day!

the forehead and thus skull/cranium/backhea/whatever you call it must be larger. shoulder size uneven. shadows feels superficial. breasts are undefined. curve of the sleeves are a bit bleh. there is no sense of dimension in the drawing of the batman logo.

sorry, i should've clarified - what i meant is that it looks really off, even in anime, when you have giant irises and you can't see the whites of their eye at all

Image

yeah i can't draw anime haha but hopefully this clears up what i meant

First of all, I'm really impressed to see how you improved compared to your earliest drawing. Your definitely getting on the right track as far as techniques. Well done and keep up the good work!

Now for the feedback.
Her head is really shaped weird and it looks like she has a big dent in it.
Let me ref. a skull here:
http://static.howstuffworks.com/gif/ada ... icture.jpg
See how the skull is shaped? in the utmost simple of forms, it's basically a circle and a blunt edge triangle. Okay, not the best of terms but keeping this mind set might help you visualize the human head.

Did some correction doodles.
Image
Not the best corrections, but I hope it will give you an idea. A good thing to remember when it comes to proportions of the face is the the eyes are 1/2 of a head and lie right in the middle from the chin to the tip of your head. As for the body, her right shoulder (our left) is too short and stunted given the angle it is at.

I know you probably don't want to hear it, but doing some drawing studies on anatomy will really help you out in the long run. It does not necessarily mean you have to draw realism, but rather study and practice drawing proportions and shapes of the human body. Trust me when I say this, it will help you learn much faster and will help you draw people rather than drawing how you think people look like.

I can tell you from experience that after actually taking the time to study anatomy, my own work improved tremendously in such a short time whereas it took years before then to get where I was.

Keep up the good work!

I see. Thanks for the corrections, I've considered drawing the basic shapes of the human body, but I haven't really gotten around to it... My friend asked me to draw this on short notice so I just drew it... I'll try the studies of anatomy thing. But I'm not sure when I'll have the time to get to it because over here, school is just starting in a few days and I need to get in some work.

Thank you and have a nice day!

First attempt at a more realistic style... It's not bad... but not good either. Any pointers anyone?

I got inspired by my new drawing book... So I learned a few things more.

I'm also going to try and get my hands on a tablet... anyone willing to recommend one for around 100 dollars US?

Thank you and have a nice day!

My first thought on the new one is Winry Rockbell. Aside from that, I'm not really qualified to comment on style or anything.

but feel free to criticize on whatever you feel fit.

Also, the head shape is quite off...

It looks to me that you have taken the 'just start drawing' approach.
What i mean is, not taken the preliminary design steps.

I always try to draw a frame first (unless you've done it so many times that you just don't need to anymore) because it helps get everything in proportion.

To me, the jaw line is too wide and the eyes are too far apart.

I don't have a tablet to make changes like some of the others(though I wish i did!) so if anything isn't clear, let me know and I'll explain it for you.

move ears up. ears are level to the eye, sorta. i think ears should be bigger too

in terms of realism, maybe the neck should be a teensy bit wider. Maybe not, though, might just be my own.

larger forehead, larger cranium, etc. Check your forehead- you'll see the difference between your forehead and the pic's

Soemthing's off about the upper left (our left)of her head, where the hair thins down slightly as it curves through the front.

The left (our left) shoulder shouldn't curve down like that that fast. distance between the end of the shoulder and the head is somewhat one head.

The two strands of hair to the right/left of her head in front sorta makes her face roundish, cut off. Not sure exactly what you can do to help that; though i should say that frontview-wise, there's a small space from the ends of the eyes/eyebrows to the actual part where the head ends, if you understand what i';m saying.

Two strokes to mark out the collar bone needs to be readjusted.

This is all in response to how it should look "realistically" though. Pretty nice and clean artwork, though.

Ah, okay... I see... Yepp, that drawing is horrible

But I think I'm getting the hang of this new style from the book now, thanks for the feedback

It's supposed to be a ninja girl, but then the hair got colourful and it's a guy now haahah... And I have an attendancy to not draw the full head... I'm going to try and correct that problem.

Thank you and have a nice day!

Well I'm back to drawing... I've figured that I should get a tablet with my birthday money ($120 about) so are there any tablets recommended... I searched the Wacom ones, and the bamboo ones look like the ones Dadevester was talking about. So there are five, which ones, or suggest a different brand if there is a better cheaper one out there:
Bamboo
Bamboo pen
Bamboo touch
Bamboo fun
Bamboo craft

Thank you and have a nice day!

bamboo's okay. i got the bamboo fun, cte-450/s for a cheaper price of either 40-60 dollars (amazon, forgot exactly how much), and works alright to me. obviously, a higher pressure sensitivty, aka the ones that cost a fairer amount of money, works better for the artist, but seeing as i'm not anywhere near professional or super artistic, higher pressure sesenstiviity won't be that much of a difference for me. i'm only doing it as a hobby.
then again, having more powerful stuff works fine. i just got my version to work with photoshop last night, and it'd always worked with manga studio, so i'm quite happy with it. larger models are better, but i'm saving my money and getting used to good tablet usage before getting shit like intuos 4 gigantic sizes and stuff.

and happy birthday :toot:

Hehe, he means the birthday money from 9-10 months ago (I think).

And if you're going for realism, I'd recommend to stop highlighting as if the entire hair is one smooth surface when it's in clumps like that.

Daxis - I think I'll just stick with the $100 version because not all of the amazon tablets will be the same (from my limited knowledge).
Danyo34 - Yup, you're right, I just figured out what I was going to do with it actually. And as I told you before, I wanted to try and use a gradient to put in some shadows.

Thank you and have a nice day!
