Yeah, the shade of the trees is strange. I think that since the light source(as I can see) is in
the upper right, you should correct the tree shadows according to the light source.
But everything else looks good. I like how you added the little details like
the little plants. It needs work, but since it's a practice, it's good!

No you are right I just was sort of experimenting and then sort of got into seeing what it would look like.
Yeah i still gotta block out everything its just that the water is killing me x;
Im going to look at a different reference when i return to it

also fyi those dark long spots in the clouds are tornados i just have yet to actually do them x;

Looking nice, bacon! And yeah, I agree about blocking out areas first and then detailing. I always start with blocks of color and then detail. Don't worry too much about how you're doing the water for now. That's the dark gray area, right? Water is hard as balls to paint, but on the plus side, you don't really have to detail it that much if it's far away.

is great, reminds me of some of the graphics in Battleon, and I'd love to play a game fully in that style (Battleon has too much dross alongside).

Im not happy with the consistency of the shading, but im touching it up when i do highlights and shadows
Opinion: Should I keep the grass shadows high contrast like the right side or lower contrast on the left? I realize they arent consistent.
