They're still really dark. The bark on the tree fades too easily into the background. On a dark monitor they're virtually indistinguishable.

I like the whole tone/feel you're shooting for though! They're very simplistic but that's definitely not a bad thing.

and this is becoming especially tedious x:

I mean i am trying to keep cool, dark colors because, well thats sort of the theme.
But at the same time, I cant really brighten them up because then the contrast with the foreground would be sort of ruined and then players will think that the background is part of the foreground

so basically i dont even know what to do anymore :c

You can increase the contrast in the trees without your players thinking that they're part of the foreground. The main issue is between the tree and the leaves in front, and the background. They don't pop nearly enough. Distinguish your colours - maybe a colour wheel would help? - and it will look so much better.

The platforms should be the things that pop the most, so put a particular emphasis on making them stand out.

I mean, yeah, it's one thing to have dark, subdued colours as a theme. But when everything looks the exact same, it gets monotonous and boring, which is why you need to have a few elements contrasting to make them stand out.

5 color challenge oh no~

Ive been basically touching up so there isnt tons of improvement happening right now just small things

hopefully my next big art stride will happen next month or so

I totally realize that
ive been basically just constricting and refining and trying to solidify things
which sounds super silly but
I have a really hard time with keeping consistent
so thats something I am seriously working on
and my gesture
because I am also so terrible at gesture
but by doing comfort things its pretty easy to work on gesture
and I have gotten better in the last week so yay~

Ive been playing around with body parts
how to shape them and how to move them
and how to define them
Ive been trying to extend and de-extend things so that i can maybe make things without a human proportion and make them look normal

but yeah hopefully I have my next art stride in the next upcoming month
i tend to switch off between comfort zone and then strides

a lot of stuff is missing like grass and vines and details
and I gotta play around with the contrast

I proved them right~

the final version is cleaned up with the lineart im just too lazy to resize it x:
