New forum theme in the works

Image

We've been working on something big for a while, everyone knows that. Well, it's time for the big reveal: A NEW THEME.

You can see a demo of the work here: http://www.phpbb.com/styles/demo/3.0/?style_id=19

Frankly this is a great improvement for the site, I'm sure you'll agree.

Meanwhile...

GAMING

This week, a promising new game is Rise of Aden, by livpj11. This is described as a "tactical turn-based game", and uses RPG Maker The first thing that strikes me is the custom (or at least editted) art that has gone into the game. It looks more original than most!

Daxisheart has started a thread about sidequests. The thing that made me immediately throw away a commercial RM* game was the sidequests... I was made to pick apples, for a fair, for seemingly no reason other than to show off the artist's ability to create such an event. That's my personal opinion, but, surely some sidequests can be good? Well, join the discussion.

CONTEST

This week see's Bacon come back with Mapping Contest III - the previous two runs were mighty successful, join in!

Community-contest wise $t3v0 won yet another contest! He gets $5 (buy a beer or something lol) for dressing like this:

The official FIVE YEARS OF HBGAMES contest is striving at the moment! I have a personal favourite but I won't say it! Needless to say, there are some fantastic entries in this amazing contest. Most aren't even entering for the $150 grand prize.

OTHER

I don't normally link to Gen Support topics, but here's an interesting one: How do you use RPG Maker on a Machintosh? Yes, I did just say Machintosh.

Introductions

A warm welcome to titanproject2010 and mafediz, and a hearty welcome back to PK8 (the artist formerly known as Punk). Enjoy the site guys!

Like to point out that the newly founded Beginners' Lounge is picking up some activity, a great (perhaps better) way to welcome new members is to help them on their way!

Creativity

National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo) has come around again and we have it covered from all bases. I've never found time for it myself, but it's always a pretty active topic here year after year. Why not give yourself arthritus at 20?

Community

Forgive me father for I have sinned... i.e. a thread about confessions - it's a jolly good read wot wot

A big topic this week has been America vs TheRestOfTheWorld (also known as "The Middle East).

Yes. Frankly Americans need to get their heads out their arses. Or everyone could just forget the whole "who comes from where" issue. Does it really matter when we're all Africans anyway? Why DO bicycle tyres inflate to a massively huge size when outside of the rims of the wheel? When will when will when will when will? will?

Oh, and just in case you aren't aware, it is now an official rule to be in love with Dawn French, Jennifer Saunders, and Lenny Henry. Thank you.

BABE OF THE DAY

Final Thoughts...

As the light of lights wears down after a day of days, and the Christmas decorations begin to overtake the eternal plane that is the metaphorical insinuation of humanity's eternal (if paternal) struggle against the ethermore plain of salvation, soulessness and brotherhood, will the archaic struggle of the winter shield us from that which we so long hoped to gain?

I knew the Ferrari theme would happen one day.
Wyatt, shoot me.

Well, this is a lesser TWODO. No much to this one. Sorry, but you filled up empty space with pictures (not saying that you never did, but...)
Sorry...

The snow can be a metaphor too, wyatt...

Considering Wyatt does half the twodos anymore and he's always the one that ends up doing it since no one else ever volunteers, he did a good job.

Pics or it didn't happen  .

Anyway what caught my attention was the 'How do you use RPG Maker on a Machintosh?', why not just dual boot. If it's a decent Mac then it shouldn't be a problem.

Nice work on this Wyatt, the contests look quite interesting with a cash prize.

If its a decent mac, you could have bought a better PC for the same price.
