Opening

Greetings everyone! Eidolion here, with a short idea I've been working on today that I'd like to throw out here and see if there's any point to me continue with it, or all-in-all a bad idea. For those who have followed me (Probably none) you would have seen my failed attempt at a Final Fantasy Fangame, well for those who care it is still being rewritten, and reworked every once in awhile, but at this time I do not have the time required to focus on such a heavy project, and so I started thinking of this project earlier today.

General Idea

Magic, And How It's Feared, Yet Love

And that's all I can think of for now, I thank you for taking the time to read through this, and look forward to hearing your opinions.

I really like the idea of a country war happening, it sounds exciting. Besides the death, war and armies are fascinating to me and very enthralling lol

I have a question though; what time is this set in? Steam punk, Victorian, modern, future? Also, what role does magic really play in the game?

I'm thinking more along a Fantasy-Medieval Setting, I probably should have added that in there. So, Magic exists and is quite common, but is heavily watched as well. Monsters, like Dragons and Goblins are known, but rare to a point, they don't come out and terrorize people often, but walk into a nest and you have a problem.

The way Magic works, is that roughly every fourth child is born with the ability to wield magic, but that magic potential has to be unlocked through an Academy that searches for those with the "Touch". The main character is born with a rather high ability of Magic if he's a Mage, otherwise he's born with very little as a Warrior or Rogue. Magic is not only loved in the world for healing wounds, and curing the sick, but it also feared as a weapon of war, and so people either love it, or hate it, there is no real middle ground. I've been think that Cecille herself may be one of the people who hates her gift of Magic, and depending on how you react it, she can either come to accept it as a Gift, or a Curse, and use it differently throughout the game.

The setting I have planned is, like I said a Fantasy-Medieval setting. You have your typical, knights, castles, etc. But also your Dragons, Goblins, and possibly a floating construct of some kind, as well as, obviously magic. So, everything will look like the Castle Era, but people will be able to wield magic, but it hasn't been used to create any form of technology at this stage.

Ah okay then! That sounds really interesting. There are hardly games with a restriction on magic bending. So this might turn out pretty good, Eld (mind if I call you that? lol).

Have you've thought about the people of the story? I've been reading character and world creation books, and every single one says to make a great book (in this case a game) once must figure out the people before the rest. Will these peoples be kind hearted and or something else? What is their customs? What should they look like? How does their culture effect their clothes, speech, or life?

Sorry if I rambled, I just thought I should help. ^,^ Tell me if I was being too much >.>

No, no, you're asking the questions I need to think about. The main area in the game is this large currently unnamed city. This place is home to many, with people acting differently depending on how they live, and how they're raised. For example, the Less Fortunate people in the city live in a run-down section of the city, they have to lie, cheat, steal and sometimes murder to get by, because of this they're less trusting the others and as a general people, are likely to stab you for a dinner, they're also most likely to speak with a slang. You're then brought to the Middle Class people, these people are the more common people in the city, they're essentially a neutral people, some are jerks, some are kindhearted. They live in decent buildings, and the majority of them have jobs or are attending some form of schooling. Some of these people will mingle with the Richer, or Poorer Groups, and adopt there slang and lifestyle, even if they're not in the same category. The third group of people, are the Rich Folk. The majority of them live in the upper platforms, and have homes that overlook the city and the area around it. They don't take kindly to the less fortunate, seeing them as "Slaves", while the more Elitist also see the Middle Class as such. They speak with a proper, sometimes snobbish tone, and will most likely look down on your Character unless something is changed. The fourth group I've come to see in this city is the Military, these also include people employed to the royal family. They're generally rude, and un-trusting, especially to those with a magical gift.

Now, as it comes down to Races in this game, everyone I introduce will be a Human, but I will be mentioning Elves and Dwarves as they do exist in this world in some form. With Elves actually being quite important in the story, but it's quite likely I wont introduce an Elven Character. When it comes to clothing, the Less then Fortunate wear Rags, while the Middle Class and Rich Folk where finer clothing, and at least clothes that match there profession. Soldiers and Royal Servants are dressed in uniform.

Because the majority of them are from the same country, they'll all speak with the same language, which will be simple English. Although some people will speak with a slang if the situation calls for it. (Example; Less Fortunate's attempt at being a 'Gangster')

/Bump!

I updated the Main-Post with a few more things, mostly I expanded on the Country, Added Background Information about the Main Antagonist, Added a Magic Section, and changed the Advanced Classes from Berserker to Swordsman, Hunter to Scout, and Healer and Elementalist to Shield Mage and Combat Mage. I've also added all of the Mage Skills as well. I imagine I'll need some scripts for a few of them.

I also need to decide if I'm working on it in RMXP or RMVX...

I want some feedback people! :D

I like this project, mostly for the ability to control how the world develops. While I'm not a huge fan of the silent protagonist, it definitely can be pulled off if done right. This project seems really fleshed out, especially with the history of the world. While the characters don't seem very dimensional yet, I'm sure its because of the descriptions being short. Just make sure that they don't fall into the common rpg cliches.
