Awesome Bro
Maybe you could link each finished card to an image of it? It'd take a while doing all the linking to 100 cards, but meh, we'd get to see how they look.

Are you sure you can do all of these yourself? I would be more than happy to do a few to help you out.

I probably can't - as shown by my shit lineart.

I'll make a thread for dumping graphics if anybody wants to help.

Trouble is as this has commercial aspirations everything needs to be 100% original which rules out a lot of forum avatars.

Unfortunately due to the nature of the game, action cards outweigh member cards, which is a shame.

Perhaps we can somehow turn some members into actions.

Luckily people are known by names, not by avatars (since avatars change all the fucking time). So it's very possible to have just about every frequent poster on the list.

The first few cards:

You can see these are just messing with the template to get a basic idea and are not final at all.

For some reason I think the graphics should be as consistent as possible. This is just me, though. ^_^; Your line art may not be the best (it's very decent, actually), but all the cards matched and I like (or liked O.oa) that. :D

In truth those three pics are from drawing over photographs in Flash using the line tool. I am not sure the legalities of that.

have you ever seen MTG cards? they have pics by all sorts of artists and while they're usually realistic/painted the styles are all over the place

also instead of specific member cards you could have members mentioned via an action
like "dadevster's otterspam"
or "moe's doodlins"

Why yes I have. I played mtg for about 2 years. Though having different artists, they have generally the same style though, don't they? They all look like fantasy realistic-esque paintings.

Edit: Didn't entirely read your post :x All I'm saying is that wyatt's art is pretty unlike any other style, and therefore just about anything else would clash.

Should I try and colour them? I think the cards would look better with a bit of colour but I dunno.

I'll make some mockups anyway.

maybe a whole list of cards names/abilities/etc. should be created first, and then people would then proceed to call whichever ones they want to do, as long as it generally abides to some type of style. The ones not taken you/ven do.

Also, Pokemon deliberately varies their style from card to card. From 3d models to nice artwork to the stock Pokemon images on plain backgrounds to child scribbles. It's a nice blend, even when evolving a Pokemon can completely change it's art style.

Sometimes they also have actual photographs of what look like clay models, as well.

Yeah from around the first Neo- set they had clay models like what's seen in Wallace and Gromit and such. I believe (though my memory is bad) that the credits on the card actually attribute the author as "photographer" rather than "artist" as well.

I dunno, I'll bash out the first set and we can decide how shit they are. If they're bad then we'll work out some new ones.

Any contributions are however welcome.

I see you posted some cards in red. How is this possible? Also, please change that text box >_>

(also, i just noticed that there is something off about the height to width ratio, perhaps elongate the card a bit?)

The card size is based on a template provided by the publishers - it is "standard poker size" which I believe is slightly wider (only a small amount) than "bridge size".

Hmm..well maybe it's just me then, but they seem a little bit wider than average tcg cards.

it's is not right; it should be its side
also we should make a term for a card on its side, rather than just say its side. Sideway position, perhaps.

The correct term for "sideways position" is "tapped" in the TCG community.

"tapped" is the term used by Wizards of the Coast TCGs (MTG, Duel Masters) and its quite possible it may be copyrighted by the cause I haven't heard it anywhere else

The sliding it on it's side was a joke and any other terminology wouldn't work.
