Rules & Guidelines

Please remember that this board's rules are in conjunction with the General Forum Rules.

Welcome to the HBGAMES.org forums!

New members are welcome to make a topic about themselves to make it easier to integrate into the community. In the past, however, a lot of topics didn't have much information and became full of spam very quickly. To prevent that, and to help you feel more comfortable in the community, we ask that new members write at least a full paragraph of information about yourself.

Here are some suggestions to write about:
  • What is your history with game creation and the game making community?
  • What is your field of expertise in game making?
  • How did you find the forums?
  • What you hope to get out of the forum?
  • What kind of creative talents do you have (outside of game creation)?
  • What are your hobbies or interests?
  • What kind of music do you listen to?
  • What level of education are you in? What are you studying in college?

After your Introduction...
  • Read the General Rules
  • Read the rules for each forum in which you plan to post.
  • Come back to your introduction to check replies & answer questions.
  • Enjoy your stay.

Update Your Topic...

Your Introduction topic does not have to be static. If you want to add information after you've been here for a while, that's what the 'Modify' button is for. If you have a new project, graduated, got married, learned how to script or sprite, update your topic.

Temporary Absence...

If you're going to be gone for a while, or were unexpectedly absent & are returning, post a new reply in your topic to let people know.

Farewells...
First of all, sorry to see you leave!

If you're leaving the site for good, you can post a final reply in your topic to let your friends know you're leaving. We hope your experience here, and your reason(s) for leaving are positive. Please be respectful in your farewell post. If you have problems with the site or it's members, this is not the place to get it off your chest. Use the Feedback forum, or PM your friendly moderator or administrator.

If you say that you are going to leave, do it. Posting a dramatic farewell, then dragging it out for weeks tends to attract spam & flaming, and will be dealt with swiftly & accordingly. If you make a dramatic farewell thread and then fail to leave, expect your absence to be enforced.

Name Changes & Longstanding Members
(New as of 7-31-09)

If you've been posting here more than a month, don't post an introduction. We already know who you are. (Note: If you've been lurking, and only just started posting, this doesn't apply to you!)

If you changed your name without an absence, don't post an intro--we know who you are already :). If you're worried people won't know who you are, that's what signatures and user titles are for!!

This forum is for people to be introduced, re-introduced after a long absence, or to say goodbye. It's not a place to get attention just for the sake of it. Thanks

Rules rewritten to get rid of mentions of rmxp.org and replace "RPG Maker" with "Game creation" ~
