CONSTRUCT 2 is the latest and greatest game-making software on the internet. Developed by Scirra, Construct 2 is an HTML5 game engine, designed for anybody to make their own games. No programming experience required!

Construct 2 is a fantastic program for people who want to make games but don't have the time to learn complex programming languages. Whether you've been making amateur video games for years or are just beginning, Construct 2 is a program that's worth checking out.

Image

What are some of the features?

We're glad you asked.

The free edition of Construct 2 is available for download on Scirra's website. There are some limitations in the free version (no commercial use!) but it is still a well-furnished, comprehensive game development experience.

The standard edition of Construct 2 costs $79, and has none of the limitations present in the free edition. And that's what we're here to offer you today.

Image

HBGames is TEAMING UP with Scirra Ltd to get YOU into CONSTRUCT 2!

All you have to do to win a free copy of Construct 2's standard edition is make a game. The top TWELVE entrants are going to win a license! TWELVE MEMBERS are 100% going to be getting prizes!

It's that easy!

1. Download the free edition of Construct 2.
2. Make a game with C2. Any sort of game, any length.
3. A winner is you!

Image

Download the free edition of Construct 2 right now. Start making a game. Make a thread for your game in the Construct 2 forum.

Post screenshots of it as you go. We'll be looking for people that really hype their game. It WILL affect your standings. Put a link in your sig. Tell everyone about it. Post it on our Facebook wall. Post about it on the Scirra.com forums. Shout it from the mountaintops. You shall SHAPE YOUR OWN DESTINY ~~~.

What are you waiting for? Get those game-making muscles working! It's time for action!

Hmm, just to be clear, is using Construct a requirement for entering this contest?

I really don't know where I'll get the time to do this, but I'm in. I guess Brain Zap will have to wait until the next month.

I am so getting in on this
Is there an age requirement, and does the game have to be a brand new concept? (I have an unfinished game that I'd love to make with this program for the contest)

It's a BUILD & WIN CONSTRUCT 2 contest -- where the only requirement is that you use the free edition of Construct 2 to make it.

That's the ONLY real rule here!

You can't have started PRODUCTION in the engine before today.

Otherwise, you are 100% free to use whatever resources you like, whatever ideas, whatever. It doesn't matter. Go crazy. Make a game.

Any type: Platformer. RPG. Puzzler. Racing romance game that rotates and spins for some reason. DOESN'T MATTER ONE LICK.

Just make it WITH LOVE, and advertise the heck out of it.

(You have to be at or over age 13 to win ... As that's the COPPA age requirement to join forums. No outright pornographic imagery, please. If you're under 18, get your parents' permission, as we will be giving you money if you win one of the top 3 prizes. Wow I've never even heard of this program!
I don't think I have a chance at winning this but I'm definitely trying out this software, if I feel like I can create something decent I might just join in on this anyway!

Good luck to everyone~

Wow... I download the Free Trial... Follow the tutorial...

Went to Test play... I can't because my browser isn't
the most up to date.

Looks for way to update... I need the Newest version of Windows.

Looks Like I can't even compete unless I buy a NEW Computer.

(My comp doesn't like Windows 7)

what that makes no sense unless you are using something totally out of date. Download chrome and use that as a browser.

Also if you're still using windows explorer as your default browser that may be the problem as the test play option will attempt to open up the html5 file in your defaulted browser.

Even though the game may be as long or as short as you wish, I'm sure you would be required to actually have an ending to the game, or some kind of objective to it that causes you to 'win,' if that makes any sense. Or do you already have a game? If that's the case then your current demo or whatever wouldn't be eligible for entry. I assume the game must have some sort of end objective, either save the princess, shoot all the aliens, collect all the coins, etc. Anything less would be a statement that you couldn't meet the deadline in time.

Slap me if I'm wrong, or misunderstood the question.

Smashdaddy you aren't wrong at all. Think of a complete product as something that has at least met near term goals in the game. So maybe you plan a big platformer with 32 levels, and you churn out four or even two. That's fine. You have playable units that has a beginning, middle, and end. The shorter the game is the more likely it won't win, since it prolly won't have as much content as other people's games. But if it's polished you may still catch one of the runner up prizes.

Even if you don't win you may have something to share with your friends on facebook.

Very cool! I'm definitely excited about this. I have a lot of time off work this week, so I should be able to get a big start on my project by the end of the week. This is an excellent way to expand HBG and get the community to be more active.

Two questions:

Why is this not all over the main page?

I think you're missing a "Neither" at the beginning?

On a sidenote: I've been thinking about using Construct for a new project anyway, but does anyone know how Construct2 and Phonegap work together to get construct games released on mobile platforms?

Gravija this thread may be a good start at getting all the information you need:

http://www.scirra.com/forum/phonegap-ap ... page1.html

There is lots of good information and some of the same questions you have been asked and answered in it.

I'm giving you guys a head start. To clear my conscious. The last contest I won on a technicality. Because like no one submitted anything. I was using software that was brand new to me then. I only submitted something because of pride. I said I would enter and I did. But it was too easy, and my stupid pride made me turn down the first place gift card and ask for private subforum (that I never use) instead. I DON'T WANT TO FEEL BAD FOR WINNING EVER AGAIN. Cause when I get home on monday IT IS ON! I am going to EARN my prize this time. No weaksauce finish.
