Could it be because of the way Google changed their requirements for SEO, making some mandates that lower the sites ranking on specific searches? I think they changed shit so all websites are supposed to be viewable on cellphones and if theyre not, then they get hit hard on relativity rankings...

You'd think it would be pretty easy to check whether or not the person searching is using a mobile browser or a normal one...

Since the discussion is already well derailed I guess I don't feel bad about bringing this up... But most of us aren't in America? I guess I just assumed that any English-speaking online community that doesn't specifically cater to non-Americans would be mostly American.

The servers are UK based from what I'm aware of, and so are some of the regulars.

When you say America, are you referring to the country (the USA) or the continent? I'm from Central America, and lots of regulars are from the USA too.

Central, USA. Time zones might influence activity a little. It's not like instant messenger where you except an immediate response.

"Hey, I'm free this weekend. Can you guys help me with something?"
*2 Post messages later*
"Sorry; weekend's over. This will have to wait."

At one point I used both Yahoo and Msn messenger to chat with people.
I remember a bunch of users from Brazil. Someone lived in Canada, but might have moved, I forget who. South Korea. New Zealand. Australia. Philippines. A lot of these guys had mandatory military service - like 6 months to a year. They drifted away after that. Actually about the time social media sites came around. I remember thinking it was dumb they would go online to chat with people they see on a regular basis and talk about plain everyday stuff. Kinda alienating. Eventually my IMs were dead and I stopped using them.

Allen2014 is Chinese and uses a translator. 9Robin3 is mainly Swedish; his English is good enough that you can have a conversation with him but his in-game writing had a lot to be desired. I saw the two commenting on each other's posts once. Just the thought of them trying to make sense of each other is hilarious.
I think blamethepoet is in Italy. I'm not sure where i got that from. I just remember thinking that his idea of urban fantasy might be different.

The site was made by Americans and mainly used by Americans, then the Brits took over, and now we're a mishmash of various places. I think we have about as many Americans/Brits as we have other nationalities now. Meh, it's pretty cool. Even got Koreans like DJ, Dutch like Tomas and a fair few people from America-But-Not-The-USA like Juan, Nachos, Arev, etc.

There's a noticablee amount of brits here, but I think it's just a thing that is, i'd say the servers are in the U.S. and all

Amy and Potion live in England just from the top of my head. There's plenty of American fellas too, tho.

One thing I noticed; some people with their RM games on Steam when they ask me about shit and I point them to this forum, they will then come back to me saying that they can't figure out how to register/login/access and give up.

I consider myself active with the RM community, but I'll admit that the majority of that is over on Steam where people add me as a friend for direct support (which I try to direct to over here).

As for projects, I only have concepts due to work taking up 95% of my time; my work contributes technology towards the 5% of my time which is a personal game project at the moment, when my work ramps up I'll get more contributed to the visual-novel game and the design concepts can move into testing, at which point I'll have content to actually show.

That's an update on my personal works.

I'm also Dutch.

I think there are two reasons that this website is almost dead. The first one is that the RPG Maker community is not as big as it was in the past and the second reason is what Xilef said, it's not a very clear website. New visitors should be invited when they're at the home page and making an account should be easy.

I think due to the time this site was built where RPGmaker sites were sprouting up everywhere there was demand for this sort of thing more, now that RPGmaker is on Steam and all it's becoming basically
the most welcoming gets the worms'.

Heck I might not be here if I didn't go and get myself rooted in just about every RPGmaker website a six or so years back. Like that's when it really had hit a boom as RPGmaker VX had just released.

Was also the first RPGmaker officially translated to Western Markets afaik.

Nah, XP was out worldwide a few years prior. it was out earlier and is still better ayy lmao
I'm here from .net days when I'd surf the site download other peoples scripts and actually attempted to make RPG games with story. I have since come to the conclusion that I should stay far, far away from that type of thing because I cannot write stories / dialogue for peanuts.

Oh, and admire SephirothSpawn in my free time as well.

Embrace the XP. Resistance is futile. You will be assimilated.

P.S. the server is Chicago based, which, last I checked was still USA :D

I actually think it's more to do with functionality.

Take RMN. RMN is a pretty active website (>40x more traffic than this website), but the forums themselves are most definitely not 40x more active than these forums are. That's because most of their activity goes through the individual game-pages that are hosted there; most people who visit won't be developers and so won't find the forums that interesting, but they will interact with games that they download via their hosting pages.
