What will be the extent of its funtionality? i.e: will it be able to make whole scripts with a simple copy-paste mechanism or will the user have to phiscily edit parts of it on his or her own in order for it to work? Well thats my question and good luck.

It's somewhat both:
Some things will be a simple insert, just the tag, i.e. class, def, #, atr_accessor:: ; in these, it leaves the name/text blank for you to put in (def custom_title_to_put_in)

Some of them will require you to go through a form, like the variable modifier, or to set a variable (in the form you'll select which type, the name, and other such)
As well a title generator for creating a header with the title (you'll have to put in the title, the author, version, and instructions ect.)

Of course, you can also just set these forms to "off" so it just puts in the text, and gives you suggestions.

Looking back, the forms don't look like such a great idea ^^; But I promise more functions than the basic text editor that SciLexer / RM provides.

EDIT: Snippets as well! Forgot those

The forms do seem like a good idea. Anything that makes scripting easier and more accessible to everyone is worth it.

Hmm, yes, but still, I'll include the option of turning them off, in case of an experienced scripter.

Is anyone willing to help with this project (you'll need to know C#)
If you are, join the Project RgssS Team - become a part of this project, no matter how small the contribution.
I can't do this alone

This looks interesting and very good I'm thinking of using it when it's done. I also like the black window better then the red one but the red one seems like you put a lot of work into it, why not add an option for the color of the window? I am definitely going to use this and am also going to add the user bar to my signature... *click*

Thank you and have a nice day!

I'm glad to see this project is becoming popular - userbars are poppin up all over the boards.

I'm adding the feature be able to choose your theme - black, silver, or red.

And, thanks to Ulqiurro's suggestion, I'm adding the option of customizable indenting, and from my friend, to change the colours for syntax highlighting.

I recently installed the Visual Studio 2010 beta
This let's me not only code in C#, but in OOLs like Ruby; so a debugger and builder is completely possible (although somewhat useless in most occasions: most scripts will rely on a library of others)
If I was to implement a library feature though... hmm...

No significant progress really.
But for beta testing, you may require installing c#.net version 4
I'll keep the old projects just in case

Well, 2010 won't let me build, so I'm reinstalling 2008. I'll use that instead.
The ruby building is rather pointless, now that I think about it - if you want to test it, you'll most likely need actor data, and support from built-in RGSS scripts. So you might as well just try it out in RMXP/VX

Sorry, but I haven't really touched it lately :blank:
I should...

I'm sorry I haven't updated in such a long time! I haven't gotten the chance to do anything with it.
So I pulled it out again and touched up the UI...
Image
I got rid of the whole pink thing and just stuck with the basic grayscale idea.

I'm looking back at my old version, in Visual Basic.net, and it looks like there are some things I could do in the code there that I can't do now...

EDIT: Yes!!! I got the Inserts functioning ~ figured it out.
Auto-insert and syntax highlighting.... quite a bit aways still, though.

Well, it's looking pretty good. :thumb: So, has it been established yet how inserts will be done(things like "def" where you need a name?)

Yep. Figured that out. For the most part, that is. I still need to create Forms for each of the ones that need them.
And I'll probably have something to turn the extra forms off...
I need the script behind the syntax code still. If you could just copy and paste it into a PM? Or was there a reason you couldn't? I can't remember, but I don't have the source for it anymore, since I switched to win7.

hmm, well, i don't actually have that control anymore... and it was VB6, so i dunno, i might be able to get it, if you still need it.

A lovely fellow by the name of formlesstree4 helped me out and showed me how to do syntax highlighting, as well as a more efficient way to do inserts. I'm considering him on the team :)

Thanks for the help!

TODO: Compile a list of syntax for highlights

Alrighty, updates:

  • The project is now being programmed in VB.net
  • Syntax is on its way! We've got def/module/ect working, single line comments, strings, and a few others
  • Got inserts working, about right
  • Have line numbering, and collapsible def/class/if/ect :D
  • We're planning on releasing a platform beta real soon, to test out the syntax, and inserts.

And that's about it for now. formlesstree4 and I will work on the syntax a while more, and fix up some more bugs, and expect the new platform beta the first week of April!

Until then,
-abreaction

The one we have is pretty complex, but I'd be glad to look at the one you have as well, see if it has what we need.

I think this might help your out greatly with those syntax highlighting issues, and give you some extra features to use: http://scintillanet.codeplex.com/

I'd have to manage to understand how they do their syntax checking..and getting one XML file to work was hard enough! I do like the control however, so thank you.

Looks like we're getting rid of tabs, and replacing it with MDI forms.
It fits somewhat better, and is easier, and smoother.
