Hello all!

I've been toying with this idea for a game for awhile now... I just don't know how to execute all of it...

I shall explain.

You are given a set number of hearts, and are defenseless against everything. You are also given a stamina bar that allows you run slightly faster. You must survive several maps/levels until you get to the end of the game. Maybe 10 levels? XD This would probably work better if the maps were random each time, but my knowledge is only with RPG Maker XP. biggrin.gif

Anyhoo... While you traverse these maps, there are several creatures and traps that await you. Creatures with various speeds and power, such as one really fast or one that can knock off more than one heart! Ooooo... XD The traps can do various things such as slow you down or make you unable to use your stamina bar.

I was also thinking of adding in various items that appear in the levels/maps. Like a heart item that replenishes you slightly, or maybe collectables. And maybe at the end of the game you get a score or something! Like how often you were hurt, how long it took you, and if you collected the "collectables".

I want a simple, cute story to go along with this. However, I cannot think of one. D= I thought of a star that fell from above and wants to go home, or a young maiden captured by evil wizard and has to escape his castle.

Do you have something to add? A story idea? Does this seem alright?

I just want to finish something without giving up for once...

Thanks for reading!

I have no experience with RPG Maker XP, but a possible idea for the "random" aspect would be to have a pool of different maps per level, and when you reach the exit, a random number is generated, say between 0-4, and each map for that next level is assigned to one of those numbers? I dunno if that would work; from what I've seen of RPG Maker, I'm guessing randomly generated is hard or impossible to do.. so perhaps this is the closest you'd get? Though that probably would mean more work than you first envisioned... because of you wanted 10 levels, and say, 5 possible maps per level... that's a lot of levels... (but hey, replayability! XD!)

Story wise, how about you're a pig whose hungry and needs to fill his belly so he can then roll around in the mud, satisfied, with a full stomach...

Or how about you're playing a child who wants to impress a girl he has a crush on, with a big bunch of flowers?

You could recycle stuff from Raspberry Sanctum. But I understand wanting to start fresh.

Actually I thought about it. XD

One reason I started over was because you made the knowledge that she could've flew above everyone, lols.

@Xhukari Ohhhhh, and animal! I didn't think about that!

Or being a kid trying to impress someone with flowers! YAY!

couldn't you use variables. like depending on the amount of times you got hit or the amount of items you've collected or however fast you finished you would go to a different map? say, if you didn't get hit at all on the map, the next map would be a more enemy "friendly" map. or if you got all the items, than the next map will have harder to reach items. or if you finished very fast, next map will have more traps or trickier/hidden traps. and the same could be done the other way around. sounds like a lot, im sure, kinda like a fake AI that adjust difficulty to your skill. sounds weird as i am typing it but idk.

as for story maybe have 3 different characters who specialize in something different. someone who is really really fast (but hard to control for advanced users), some who has like a magnetic effect on items, or maybe has an ability to make items shine to show location (for novice users) and a balanced character for normal mode. all three have to be different characters. a cute one, a cool one, and boss one(boss as in bad ass).

sorry if i typed so much but hey im trying here lol. (and im wired the *^&% up)

Ooooo, I love your idea of being able to choose between characters! Omg. That would be awesome!

Thanks No ID! ^___^

Steady your horses RedScarf!
I know from a lot of failed projects, that allowing the game to spiral into something more ambitions spells doom for the entire project. And you seem to be in the same boat as I am; nothing completed to say "Look at what I made!". I would recommend working on a simple idea, and perhaps include those extra ambitious parts for a sequel or something similar.

This is a simple idea, silly bear. XD

Have you seen my real project with my ex boyfriend, Ghost Shards? That thing is ambitious as heck. Probably why we haven't worked on it in a long awhile.

You obviously can expand on their idea. Games do it all the time. I was just recommending it to you so that you could get an idea!
