By Symbioze

Moonlight Requiem is a fan game created by the development team Symbioze. The team gathers Fans from the official Castlevania series created and developped by Konami.
We've made this game to improve ourselves and to apply our skills as well as having fun with other fans.

Here is the team:
- Emryx: Project funder, Mainly in charge of the graphics assets: Interface, maps, etc... He's also taking part in the scenario, the game design, creating the website, loads of stuff...
- Trebor777: Co-Funder, Chara designer, Level designer, game designer, but more importantly: coder, the whole game is coded by myself(expect of course for the libraries I use).
- JohnSpade: Coder; he works on the editor.
- Alex G & Aeternia are in charge of the audio part, composers for the soundtracks and the SFX.
- SLOTS for the artists that'll join us.

It's developed using Ruby and the Gosu Library. Mostly all the graphics are made by the team, which put us under a lot of work during our free-time.
We're also developing our own editor rather than stretching RPG-VX to our needs.
We're now going for "HD" Graphics; the resolution is now 1280*720 px.
the main character sprite is going to be around 128px high :)

Moonlight Requiem takes place in the "real world", on earth and to be more precise in the Europe of the 17th century. The story will bring our heroin in different places/countries. For your information, it starts in London.

Main character, Jena Cross:
Jena Cross, with a slick face, is an orphan girl from a unknown vampire father, and a human mother. She's been trained since her childhood as a "very special" agent by a secret order working for the Church. (don't bother commenting the fact it looks a lot like Alucard's background, it has nothing to do with it.)

Beginning of the 1st chapter:
"The stars read June 6th, 1666, an appropriately unassuming date for such an unassuming event as the Indefin Eclipse. For days, astronomers fell dazzled not only at how such a perfect eclipse had been overlooked, but the fact that the moon fell still at the very moment that the umbra fell on London - even more so of course that the moon fell still at all. At the dawn of the eclipse's second day, the inner workings of the Church - after much heated debate and deliberation - declared the event an intervening of the Divine, and that the now dubbed Indefin Eclipse could be explained not by scientific measures, but faith alone.
The Order Ex Corde Dominus, a religious guild of specialized vanguards and associates independent from the Church itself, had their hands in the debates of the Indefin Eclipse's devine declaration. One official representative, Mr. Mars Cadre, and two slightly less official representatives attended the meetings of the Church on the Order's behalf.
To the ignorance of the Church and its leaders, the Order Ex Corde Dominus had already sent an officer to investigate the area of London under which the umbra of the Indefin most vividly held. The officer's name was Jena Cross, daughter of none, an up-and-coming Officer in the ranks of the Order and apprentice to Mars Cadre himself..."

Let's say it's a rpg-extended version of the Castlevania previously created on GBA, DS and PSX.
- More exploration
- More interaction with people: You won't have only one quest and objective.
- But still an action platformer. Featuring a nice battle system, think a bit of Devil May Cry 3/4. That may give you a clue. (We won't speak too much about it, we don't want to spoil it.)

Some videos
new engine :) going for HD graphics... no updated art to show yet ( we're working on it)
the old version, as a memento

We are HIRING some talented Concept artists (environment and character)
If you think you have what it takes contact me by pm with samples of your work.

Please visit our website for regular news and information!
http://moonlight-requiem.trebor777.net/

We would like to thank some people (even if they're not on this forum):
- MasterVlad, who didn't stay long, but created this wonderful sprite for Jena.
- MajinSeb, FalcoSSJ, OmegaBower, Daxter, etc... for their support on MSN.
- The project is now stupidly old!
- You should very soon see a small section for the music, so you can hear the work of our composers!
- Thanks for reading until this point!
- That's all folks!

I like it, but is that name set in stone? Symphony of the Moonlight sounds a lot like Symphony of the Night 0_0

The menus and physics demo both look promising. Looking forward to some kind of playable demo.  :straightthumb:

well the funny story, is that we chose the title, when starting the project, time where the story wasn't really set, so i guessed it will change^^
Thanks anyway ;)

Whoa ... I'm actually impressed.

If you can actually make this enough like actual Castlevania games, I would exalt this from the mountaintops.

Ah for a demo we can't really tell yet, a lot of work still needs to be done. And we haven't set any plans yet either. I guess when the game engine will be done, a technical demo might
be available at that time.

And if no spriters come to help... well you can wait a long long time before seeing this game!!!

SO TALENTED SPRITERS PLEASE HELP US!

yes ^^ it's only about character's sprite. Well i can give you the non -animated sprite base we got, and you can try animate her running, or whatever other movement you want to do.

You're example you showed me some days ago are quite good^^ hope you'll get nice results with our base sprite.

And can you try to speak a better english, it's sometimes hard to understand you

Thanks for your help! :thumb:

Therefore, my English is not perfect.

The problem with this story is i musst my project on ice when i help you.

Although eh me the scripts are missing. xD

But anyway I help you.

The only thing I need is to engine or else where I can test the Sprite.

aha sorry doesn't work that way^^ you can test them directly in the animation editor of rmvx, in an empty project^^

Everyone who wishes to help, you can use this base to create an animated version with running cycle, jumps, dash or attack.

But I tell you it takes just a little until I've finished a Sprite.
Since I was a little slow. ^ ^

But I think better than nothing. ; D

Here the stance Sprite from that Woman.

I do not know who designed this character,
but he is very strong as Shanoa.

I have it changed a little because I do not know exactly how I should move him. ^ ^

I hope that's not bad.

well without the edit would have been better... And well , it's a quite simple animation:p but in that short time i guess it's normal,

If you really wanna help us make a run cycle in 12 frames^^ keeping the original design. Please.
And send me your work through PM.^^

12 Frames.
a normal stance position?

The Stance Animatin has 5 frames like any other castlevania Stance animation.

And if I get the old design I do not know quite how you should move.
or I have just misunderstood something. : P

hm ok I like the original although not so special.
In Castlevania Sprite because of today are more details in order to animation because more from the animation gets out.
But the original is difficult.
I will try to start so what if I do not hinbekomme you have unfortunately another. : <

well first we don't have any answers yet , or good work offered. We just had a proposition from a friend of Wizard. And he didn't started anything yet.

So for the moment you're alone, trying to get the job! ^^ and he's alone trying to get the job too.
If you're both really good:p well we keep both, that makes less work for you if you share it. ^^

And doing a RUN cycle is a test to see how good people are. If we like it, you're in the team. that's all.

on those words, good night! Time to sleep for me.
