Main theme you guys. I actually had this theme kept full because I think it's wonderful! It isn't done by shizu, but shizu did make it a mp3 so it uses his instruments and such! Demo is still being worked on...

Battle Theme update! I cut it in segments... it doesn't sound complete when I do that XD But it sounds REALLY nice in full. Wait to hear the full version when the demo is (if ever) released.

Long time no post, eh? Well I updated the main page with new screenshots. Sorry that it couldn't be more like... you know a demo or such. But screenshots are good too, right? So here. New ones. Go get them =).

Here is a new piece... actually it's old. But here is a newly updated piece ^_^ This is Essence's prelude. Now, there is the actual prelude within the game, but its not the main prelude. The secondary prelude will be played in parts of the game. This is more or less the title screen theme.

Don't really know. I don't like giving out release dates because I'll never meet the deadline. Lets just say, if sin doesn't finish up a few scripts, there won't be one for a while. I won't let anyone down, though. I could always do a trailer. But for now, there is a lot of pressure for me and sin. It'd be easier if there was no school, too.

Okay. I seen me in the Best Vaporware thingy in the Org Awards. I was like "OMG. I don't care what Vaporware means, I'm ON there!" So I did this for you guys! Now, this is no where near final. I... left out stuff. Obvious stuff. I have Shizu listed as a composer (But I fired him/he "quit"). Impulse and Mark are the real composers. Also, I forgot to resize the the credit page thingy anyway. Another thing is... THERE IS NO SKY ON THE WORLD MAP! Well, I forgot to add one. I'll add one later. ANOTHER THING is the music. The music is currently done in piano format (Mark played it on a midi piano... like a rough draft you could say.). There will be a full orchestral instrumental version of it in the real opening vid. I just covered the vid up with the song in Windows Movie Maker =P. So, here it is.

This is pretty much a "Thank you!" for nominating me. I really do hope I win. There is no telling how much spirit I will get from that. There would be a big big big pulse in my game making abilities. So please, vote Essence! It'd help a lot!

lol the fade out at the end could have lasted like two seconds longer.

There's one small spelling bit i get, the "soon it will all be over part," where the "be" has one space it doesn't need.

The empress speech, the "...a reality!" part has a small bit of timing issue or offness- like, it could have paused longer, rather than a small pause between each period

The crystal that appear... yeah, I have a small tick with shit that's imperfect, and i just notice that the crystal is leaned to the right. I hate it when mapping in rmxp is leaning to one side instead of being balanced out, at least the human-made stuff- for nature, it's just fine but for humans... whatever. I just rather like things in rmxp to occur in titles of one, three, five, etc. rather than two or four, because the sprites are only one tile wide and sorta kills the symmetry.

The theme might meander here and there a bit more than it needs to, and maybe the final punch and feel of the theme for this opening could be a little stronger, but it's quite fine the way it is.

Overall, very beautiful work for something made on rmxp. Don't mind the criticism, i've become a perfectionist at shit. Good luck on your game.

Lol thanks! I don't mind the criticism. It actually helped a lot. I'll replace the crystal on the sheet thingy... or something like that. Oh and if you spot anything else that has to do with grammar, please do tell. And yeah, the final might sound different. That's something I don't even know. I'll fix this stuff.

Final Fantasy IV is my favorite game of all time, and this looks very influenced by it. Looks great, man!

FFIV did influence this game some bit, yeah =). Pretty much all of them did.

One light criticism that I have:

I'm not sure I like how the music is presented in comparison to the graphics. Don't get me wrong,I love the classic graphics style, but the music being so modern in production value doesn't seem to fit with it.

Me and mark decided to use midi in the actual game. Only because its smaller and you dont have to mix. The music may not sound that epic.

That piano version of the opening theme is done on a midi piano. So that's not the final one, of course. You can say it's... a prototype. The final will kind of go with the scenes. I didn't really have anything else to use =P

That's cool. I was worried it would pull something similar to the PSP FF remakes. Don't get me wrong it sounds absolutely gorgeous in that game but I don't think it mixes well with the visuals.

Me neither really. It also takes away free space.


Oh, and news. I has Atoa as a scripter. He'll be dealing with the harder, more complex scripts. The ones sin whines about... like battle system and such. Atoa will be a part of Essence's legacy... which, I really hope, holds up. Thank you so much, Atoa!

When do you expect to have a demo up?

Well where do you stand pretty much in actual game development?

I can say I'm close, REALLY close to a demo. I'm just scared to announce a demo, is all. It'll be here when I can get it. Plus lex didn't finish his job and hes gone for 3 months X_X... I'm gonna have to hire another Faceset person. All I needed was just a few more, too.
