Yeah, I figured something along those lines, but it's so so sad. *sniff*
Anyway Woqress, Subtile, and Piano2a are really catching pieces. I've listened to them all night.

May I suggest to upload all your tracks to sites where you could listen to them without having to download anything, otherwise some lazy people (like my filthy self) wouldn't be arsed to wait for download completion before listening.

oh, yeah im working on that, look at the soundcloud place.. ;)
though i figured a lot of people use google chrome, or have quicktime installed.
Both of those programs let you stream music from direct links..

thanks for the compliments though ;D

I listened to this and thought, "Wow, this is pretty good." So then I listened to everything else and I definitely like your style. Everything feels like it has a deeper meaning, if that makes sense. Like they aren't just songs; they're representations of something. Which is something I don't get very often from instrumental music (not that I've heard a lot of it, but still :P). I dunno I just think your stuff is pretty cool. :3

;D

you do know that that melody was stolen from 'everytime we touch' by cascada, right?
i was just improvising and i happened to stumble upon something that reminded me of that, so i played around with it

and thanks ;D
i like your interpretation of the way i make music
while i don't try to implement a 'deeper meaning', i do try to compose it in a way that there's always something new to hear when you listen to it again and again (mainly because i don't want to get tired of it while constantly re-listening to it when composing it, but that's beside the point)
also i constantly try to break the mold and do stuff i've never heard before
although the music nowadays is so wide and varied that that's near-impossible

i'm still learning, and not yet on a level im satisfied with, but i keep improving
im thinking about going back to softer, more subtle songs instead of harsh electro
or maybe do a combination of the two
(something like this: http://bb.ohsk.net/uploads/Tomas%20-%20 ... s%20v1.mp3)
(btw that was inspired by the machinarium soundtrack which is awesome - and made by a dude named Tomas D:)

i've also been doing the composing for my
here's a tracklist so far
i dunno how many tracks i'll do, but i think 1 per two levels is quite fitting
of course the songs increase in intensity as you progress further into the game
also i might redo the title track, as it isnt epic enough
that said, i might even redo the whole title, and call it 'THE GRID' or something

http://bb.ohsk.net/uploads/title.mp3
http://bb.ohsk.net/uploads/track1.mp3
http://bb.ohsk.net/uploads/track2.mp3
http://bb.ohsk.net/uploads/track3.mp3

now these have all been made within 10 minutes
really lazy sound design
but it works

Yep, I recognized it. 'Tis a good song. :3

Distances v1 was pretty sweet. I think you should definitely try doing more stuff in that genre. And I REALLY like track3, although I'm not quite sure why. I guess I'm enjoying the rhythm and general feel of it.

Good stuff, you've improved since I last heard your stuff. I like the electronica-mixed style you got going on in many of your songs.

As for the last two: I really enjoyed the first one as an atmosphere-setter; it sounds pretty fitting as an incidental piece. The second one had a nice rhythmic progressive entrance, and it built up pretty well in that regards throughout. The melodic/chord aspect could've been more developed, though. But it seems to be just a short experimental piece, so *shrug*. Keep it up dude.

yeah thanks

ghehe i think i improved too, still not on the level i want to be though, but i've said that before
and yeah, i like to mix 'unplugged' stuff with electronic stuff, although i still need to refine it some more
also still trying to find a good tempo for my songs, but it seems that variation is the key to interesting things..

the last couple of songs were quick improvisations though, intending to work on something serious tonight though
but i've got a shitload more work to do. soo we'll see

i'll keep it up, that's for sure

also i improved distances with some piano
and other small things
a new title and stuff ;)

here's some piano i improvised last night
http://webgel.net/bb/files/11-08-2010.mp3

i'm trying to break out of my regular improvising, but i was too tired to attempt something anyway
i start out with a good basis, layering more original stuff, and then i went into a bit of fur elise
heh

after that it broke out of the shit, there are some suprising chords there, but its nothing impressive
still a solid attempt though

Second track of my album in the making: "Stone". This one is more electronically oriented, with noticable influences from The Glitch Mob, and Trentemoller.

Seriously nice tracks man. I love your style, it carries a very atmospheric nature in areas. I especially like Wogress2. Really nice so far, I'll give your others a listen soon.

:/ I would make more instrumental stuff but I have such a hard time tweaking that until it sounds good..
I'll try, okay?

Until then, here's a track that starts out slow but progresses into some trancy thing with a bpm of 120
It's like moby, but less refined, i think
although i'll be refining this tomorrow etc.

http://tomasknipscheer.nl/stuff/muzak/T ... 0Bloss.mp3

oh wait, i did make something else, a while ago
it's really laid back, meant for a slow puzzle adventure game
and, it's purely orchestral

Two new tracks!

Tomas - Addition (ft. Stephanie Kay)

Addition is a mathematical operation that represents combining collections of objects together into a larger collection. It is signified by the plus sign (+). For example, in the picture on the right, there are 3 + 2 apples—meaning three apples and two other apples—which is the same as five apples. Therefore, 3 + 2 = 5. Besides counting fruits, addition can also represent combining other physical and abstract quantities using different kinds of numbers: negative numbers, fractions, irrational numbers, vectors, decimals and more.

Roto - Seefu (Original Mix)

The result of a collaboration between me and Mr. Robert van den Born, hence the aptly chosen artist name "Roto".
Roto or rota (literally "broken") is a Chilean term, considered derogatory, which refers to a person of poverty and vulgar habits of urban origin. It is also used contemptuously to refer to inhabitants of Chile, especially in Peru and Bolivia. In Chile from the start of the 20th century it was used with a negative classist connotation in reference to poor city-dwellers.

Tomas & Vince Vendito - Back Again (ft. Amanda Wilson)

This one is aimed at the more danc-y crowds. Back Again, a track based on a great acapella by Amanda Wilson. Tomas and Vince decided to get together for the sole purpose of making a gem like this. It didn't disappoint. The acapella we used is here: http://www51.zippyshare.com/view.jsp?lo ... y=99437818

Big Dumb Guy
Hey man I didn't have time to listen to them all but http://bb.ohsk.net/uploads/piano2.mp3 is great, considering it's on an RPG Maker forum. Normally when people do piano tracks they just play a melody or it's backing or whatever, but this actually sounds like a piano piece that's been composed and thought through etc like it was made for piano and not just some single note melody.

Hehe, i like how you think that's great, considering that was an improvisation i did roughly two years ago.
Just imagine~

You're lucky though, I was planning on making the soundtrack for my game in the next couple of months.
It'll be based around piano tracks, with a lot of electronic influences added to it.
I'll be cooperating with this dude: viewtopic.php?p=710042#p710042
(We're making the whole game together so..)

We'll both be providing piano pieces, and I'll edit the shit out of them.
Also you should listen some more! there's some other good stuff here..

Tomas - Progreneric (Original Mix)

Another generic progressive-like dance track, just to keep in shape. I've been working on some more easy minimal techno stuff, but those just won't come out right.

you're better than i remember you being :damn:

depape this takes a really fucking long time to go anywhere and while it's got a cute melody i'm not sure it's enough to really HOLD IT for as long as you want it to. it keeps feeling like it's going to BREAK INTO SOMETHING and it never does and it's not really interesting enough to justify the length. add some SIDECHAIN KICK and dub sirens or some shit i don't know.

progrenerererrreew/e this unfolds much better than depape and even though it never really goes anywhere it still changes a lot more often so it stays engaging. i dig this.

smet i think what you need overall is stronger melody. like at :45 i was totally expecting some crazy arp to kick in and start fucking everybody up but it didn't and i was a little disappointed. i kind of get that this stuff is probably supposed to be more rhythm-oriented but STANDARD 4/4 is really hard to do anything good in even with filtered wub errywhere. it's better than depape and it's not BAD it's just not very MEMORABLE i don't know maybe it's not supposed to be :diss:

im not gonna touch the collab tracks because im not gonna touch the collab tracks

addition i'm digging this a bun--okay why is the voice entirely in the left channel and why aren't you doing anything interesting with it goddamnit son don't have vocals in electronic music if you're not DOING SOMETHING with them. this was a neat song i enjoyed it

wubverse MONO SEVENTH(?) PADS YES. they make every song better. i'm not liking this melodic progression it feels kind of generic. i am LOVING THE PADS though. i don't know this whole thing should be major key or something. i want PENTATONIC DUBSTEP. i like the wub. the beat isn't very good.

piano x is nice i think you're better at electronic stuff. make some chill instrumental hiphop or some shit.

for you PIZZA CATS. this gives a really nice atmosphere. i can totally envision this in an adventure game. i want to criticize the string dynamics later in the song though, especially the random HIGH notes that just PLAY and then stop. it feels too much like a lazy MIDI conversion with a shitty soundfont or something :ohdear: and doesn't do the rest of the song justice.

bloss i don't know what a bloss is but it's a GREAT WORD. that's a nice clarinet AWW JEAH THERE WE GO. this is tight. the kick is a BIT TOO HIGH-PITCHED and sounds weird. the filtering at like 2:36 hurts my ears bump volume down a bit and/or EQ when you do shit like that.

mock robster liking this a lot all the gated stuff is neato and the percussion is minimal but really nice so far. oh shit this is a fantastic buildup WHAT'S COMIN WHAT'S COMIN GETTIN READYYYYY AAAAAAND it's nothing why is it nothing. unfilter those drums son what is wrong with you.

gonna stop there since that's A YEAR'S WORTH OF SONGS or something (also because i'm lazy). i think overall you should write more stuff that involves PIANO, like piano with minimal glitchy percussion (kind of like this but less minimal piano and maybe also some other stuff) because you're better at piano than you are at dance and the world has enough dance musicians and not enough (original) pianists. i think ALSO you should do some COMPLEX DRUM PROGRAMMING EXPERIMENTS because your beats aren't as good as they should be.

:time:

hehehe, thanks for the critique, nice to get some from time to time, and you have some really fucken legit points there.
also you made me laugh quite a few times
you are right about the whole drum thing and melody thing, i was thinking of that myself too, which is why i recently decided to not release stuff i am not 100% confident about.

i have some more experimental stuff still in places, and once i get around to composing something for some visual projects i'll get into some more soundscapes and easy on the ears stuff. but when i have to do school shit i just want to create tracks i can rock out to.

anyway, much thanks for the feedback, now where's your stuff to tear apart?
