Program Information
RPGmaker XP, or RMXP, as it is often called, is a program made for designing and creating your own computer RPGs (role-playing games). The majority of this site revolves around the program. This is Enterbrain’s RPGMaker XP English site. You can find out all about the features of the program here. And RMVX here.

Where to Download
You can download the free trial from the following sites. It will expire in 30 days, in which case you will need to buy the legal version.

Purchasing
The full legal version can be purchased for $60 USD. You can get that at the following link here. A serial key will be emailed to you. Print it out and keep it somewhere safe (I taped the paper to the side of my computer tower). Make sure to keep it because if something happens and you have to redownload the program, you can use your serial number again.

Japanese-English Versions
Some people purchased (legally) the Japanese version and applied an English Patch before the program was legally translated. If that is you, you may be experiencing some compatibility issues with the English versions. If that is the case, and you have legally purchased the program, then you need to download this file and copy it into your System32 folder.

Frankenspriting and derivative works
Anything you create based off someone else's work is considered a derivative work. This is illegal if you do not own the rights to said work. This means you can not franken sprite with work that is not the RTP without first owning the work. IF you use someone else’s template to make something new, that is a derivative work. Yes You CAN frakensprite, recolor, dismember, etc the RTP. You own the rights to the rtp if you own the legal version of rmxp.

Do not post your project here. That can be done here. The same goes for anything specific relating to feedback on your project as well.

No Duplicate Comparison Threads
Duplicate threads are a no-no anyways but please do not open another topic about RMXP vs. RMVX the topic has been done before several times.
