Nice. It reallty reminds me of Kingdom Hearts/ Samurai Legend Musashi artwork. Basically rings a bell with an art style reminiscent of Tetsuya Nomura.

You have such strength in your poses, perspective, and hands. But the girls' faces need a lot of work. They look extremely masculine. I also wouldn't complain about seeing more dark tones :)

Edit: Except that Serenity one. I wouldn't change anything about that!

Yeah... lol i have to find a way to make some better poses... someone told me that i keep doing the same poses.. so i opted for something different and unique... alot different and unique... lol... um... but i might redo it...  not sure...

And yeah the face... i have to work HEAVILY on my faces... lol, but thanx for your opinion on the manner... you really are a good artist...

This is the character that my composer created.. for his game.. i just refined the concept.. i didn't finish the character concept...





So i've done a little pop art experiment with my friend character. This is my first time doing stuff like this.. i hope it qualifies as pop art... i hope...maybe.. maybe i don't know the definition of pop art... but i tried something new... :)

It reminds me of some of the art from Exalted, if you're familiar with it.

The jewels on her axe & armour fit really well with the perspective. Those are the things that stand out really, the rest could use some work (which has been stated already).

It looks like she's putting her hand in an inappropriate place.

Why is one of her irises REALLY huge in a few pictures?

Otherwise, I like the one on the left, 2nd row best.

Well I can assure you this isn't what I thought it would be seeing after the other picture you put up. But hey, I do like it, though a sonar for heat signatures kinda puzzles me.

Ok... so i've been on a bit of a break as of late... but ive decided to post this early... it's unfinished... but has 3 key animations and the one i'm working on now... All done in photoshop... and yet done with a new technique (of common sense) that made making these sprites a breeze... even though i'm far from done... :)


1.) Ready Stance
2.) Item Usage (completely turns and checks into pouch that player cannot see..)
3.) Attack Evasion (She does what is now known as the "replacement technique"... fitting for a ninja)
4.) Struck (Basic animation for when Katelina gets struck by a weapon... this is the non-critical version) *not done*

These sprites are 100% custom built from scratch and have alot of time and care put into them... please don't take my hard work... :)... and also, Please Leave Crits and Critiques... i need them to improve... no excuses... :)

Pretty neat, but what's with the wood? As for critism, you might want to post the seperate frames too, though it might be easier to steal that way ;x Watermarking?

Naruto thing. In the series whenever a ninja wanted to distract or feign an attack they would create a 'bunshin', a clone, which usually took the form of a log of wood. *Cough* Not that I've ever watched it.

The sprite is very well done though. Darksydaz, really impressive.

I have more to break apart... but I've been working on this sprite all weekend to correct several proportional issues. And with it being 2:45 in the morning here, I'm really tired... I hope this helps get a better critique of the sprites... and that will in turn help improve our game...


I've tried the best I could to make her animations smooth as possible (with animation rules that I knew)... tho I'm almost tempted to try a different style with the knowledge I have now... lol, but I'm going to do a small spriting side project to help me understand animation a little better... and probably ink some pictures... lol, I'm ranting and rambling now... heh... please leave critiques...

but it looks like you did figure out the gradient trick i was telling you about.

however u should take advantage of illustrator's Art and calligraphic brushes more in your line art. Some of it ends up looking very anemic (too thin) and doesn't really suite the shape well, and some of it gets.. surprisingly wiggly for illustrator O_o. are you using allot of contact points?

@Shizu- Thanks. I put alot of time and work getting comfortable with Illustrator knowing that i'm going to start doing the art in Illustrator (for starters) But yeah, i even have a new logo/symbol... now i'm getting more comfortable with illustrator as a program... egh...

@Mascarpone - Yeah... actually i did the outline... then i individually cut out each shape... to alot for the little black lines... perhaps i've messed up... and i need to get my illustrator abilities together... but yeah i use the gradient trick in photoshop... i just use Illustrator's clipping mask to comphensate for my gradients (awesome tool!). But yeah.. I'll work some more brushes in my work... that way i can get it together... with this illustrator thing... LOL @ you... created me from scratch... you DA MAN...!!!

Lighting and Shading practice... i tried a new alternative to drawing in photoshop.. so i just used all my shadows in pencil then put it in photoshop... but please leave crits and critiques...
