I wonder if one game can change between the three game modes. That would be awesome, having shmup and ABS for air and overland travel or what have you.

This looks pretty awesome! But I'm not sure Enterbrain will release English version though.
There are a lot of game maker softwares Enterbrain has made, but only few of them were released in English. (or just RPG Maker XP & VX)

Point being, those were the most recent makers. I think it would then be that Enterbrain is from now on making english versions of their software. Could be wrong though.

To be honest I'm not all THAT interested... I mean, how many possibilities could it have? RPGs traditionally follow a common formula, so it's easy to make a program specifically geared toward making games in that genre without hindering creativity too much... However, as far as action games are concerned, each ones have a unique gimmick or two that separates one game from another, not just different graphics and what have you.

Hopefully they'll include a good scripting system like RGSS to add more flexibility...

You make it sound so antagonistic... =P

I just think that action games differ too much between each other to be made well with a "maker" type program. Then again, I could be wrong.

Evvie I don't think he's saying it's a bad thing he's saying that it'll be a lot harder to get away with cookiecutter games than it is for the RPG genre.

But fear not, I don't doubt that there'll be scripting capability included. Look at the icons at the far left of the bars, looks like scripting to me!

This is kinda interesting, I've been wanting to make an action platformer for a long time now.

But...a certain free program I've been watching is supposed to be available this year (before Action Game Maker has a chance to come out here), and it will supposedly be able to make all kinds of 2D games, and you will supposedly be able to do script-like stuff without scripting. And it looks promising. So...I'm not NEARLY as excited about this new Maker as I would have been.

Stencyl right? Haha, it looks almost too good to be true. Which is why I'm still skeptical of the thing.

Yup. It does look too good to be true, but the "team" working on it has nothing to gain from just going, "LOL its all fakezors!!" unless they get a kick out of that. But still, I'll just wait and see for myself.

But I don't want to derail this thread! It's about Action Game Maker! Which still does interest me. I really do hope it gets LEGALLY translated, if not even for myself.

Not really? The Games Factory evolved into Multimedia Fusion over time and it's a pretty solid program. It isn't nearly as intuitive or as easy to use as the RPG Maker series, though, which is the big reason everyone's so excited about this. Enterbrain has done some really good things with the RPG Maker programs and carrying over that to a platforming engine would be spectacular.

As do i, there are hundreds of platformers, and most of them have something that makes them unique , and NORMALLY they use good game play and intuitive features to sell a game , where rpg's bank on story and character development.Im not saying action games are shallow kill all the goonies before they sell the princess to the black market, im just puting into perspective the people who will be useing this program.

A Flood of very very bad games are about to hit the internet. I say now more then RPGmaker because 90% projects (especially on theses forums) never get finished because of unrealistic expectations. I don't think the same will apply for this, i think people will take it as 'ZOMG THIS IS COOL, im gonna make a boy who goes to save [insert girl] but has to collect [insert coins/cookies/bananas/rings] ....' and you can fill in the rest.

But my favorite part is how this topic sounds like it is promoting illegal translations. Good luck with that, and personally i wouldnt be vocal (or literal? it is in righting) about it.

oh and ps, if your gonna rip me about this make sure to make a point and not a one sentence ' your dumb'. take a paragraph to prove me wrong. Please?
