as a aspiring graphic designer at a school for communication and design and being tortured by my teacher who tought me typography i must admit. atleast it is not comic-sans. :D i think to make it fit, you should try a simple futura.

THank you but I think I will go with the font I have now, if it is that you mean, you can see the font in the TITLE SCREEN in the beginning of this topic.

Ps. would it be necessary to change the font to make it look nicer?

i do not like to sound rude. but the font looks cheap :/ take a look at these game-titles;








as you see those arent simple font. they are with special fx and stuff. you may take a look at my topic (viewtopic.php?f=78&t=76139) for instance, my font is hand made. you shouldnt try stick with founds you find online. try looking up dafont.com Write the desire word and modificate the Font to make it look diffrent and original. if you'd like i could help you with that :)

Thank you! Once I used Papyrus but someone said that it didn't fit, what Imean is that it must look cool but not to unclear. I will try using a new font or drawing one by hand. But right now I think i will stick with the one I have, and make a new font for the full game. Or will it be worth remaking the font for DEMO 2.0?

Ps. I would like to have critique on any other thing as well, as the gameplay or mapping etc

a demo may not be a full game, but due to presentation things like, menus, fonts, level shuld look according to the full game. just because it is a demo, does not make it less worth the effort :) i will comment on the other stuff aswell as soon as i get home from une. id also like some feedback on my game aswell :P

Is it okay if I upload a test to let you see what you think before I put the final one in a new uploaded DEMO? (i dont want to upload another one straight away with another "boring" titlescreen)

Ok tell me waht i need to change. I am using a logo creator so if i change the title but not the demo is that ok?

Too much textual contrast. Your by Robin Andblom definitely clashes a bit with everything else, while the Demo is completely different from the feel of the Tree Soul Kingdom. (also the by etc. line is made of a font that aligns itself directly to the left, while the Tree above it has the stylization that makes the center of its text a bit to the right, making the by robin etc. line seem off focus/edged to the left.) The Tree Soul kingdom is ALMOST hard to read, but not that bad. However, it needs additional shadow effects, and the image in the background clashes a bit - some spots are dark and lighter, which is a bit more noticeable with the white text and design style of the font.
The background image itself is actually very pleasing otherwise.

So if i change the demo text ad soften the background color would it be enough? Maybe changing the demo text to white

that and doing something about that line underneath the title. Move it down further (5px?) and make it thinner

and try to change the space between the letters and make them smaller

Here are my new TITLE SCREEN(s). I have made a new font to fit the DEMO text as much as possible, I really like the DEMO font though, so making everything in the same font would be boring. Tell me what you think, this font would look more cool than the old spiky white one^^

3rd one wont load, but the first one ist the best one, but try it with less dropping shadow and you are done in my opinion. less dropping shadow because the letters in the middle get lost.

Funny enough, the design style of the title text is that there is a darkness/shadowing texture in the middle letters of your text. Funny enough, the background image is also darkest there, with the tree shadow and etc. (also, the combination with the text shadow emphasizes this: note how the lighter letters look rather good with the text shadow) Because of this, it's considerably darker than the rest of the text, making the eyes focus there and note it's hard to read. How to fix this? eh, not sure, as the texture of the text does add something to it.

The black line and by robin etc. lines are very badly done/included because EVERYTHING ELSE has color, shape, texture, etc., while these are just pure black with no style/texture, making them really stick out in the image, making them look like you added those as an afterthought.

Ok I will make everything over. No I can use the same font with another gradient or color, so dont say the above text can't be fixed! I will make the "by robin etc" look nicer, and I will delete the line.

Ps. I see now that maybe I need th change the demo font, different saturation is not nice to the eye, at least when having those textures. am I right?

im for the first one, it looks really neat. 2 things id like to say at last: first, try to put the letters 'ree' under the 'T' of Tree. 2nd, try putting the whole text on a simple black background :)

definitely getting somewhere! I have to ask though, is the Demo text font really necessary? You seem to be keeping it for some reason :P I think it'd look better as some sort of simple sans-serif font

Action: well maybe not but i need to separate demo and full game. I can use the same font to it. Shall i put something behind the TSK text to make it clearer? Btw i would love if you played the demo too

yes i can explain. you have the Word ''Tree'' inbetween the T and the R is a space, unneccesary space. so what you do is following: move the letter 'R' and the 2 following 'E''s more left. so the serif of the T is inbetween the mid of the 'R'. i cant explain better :D
