Despite his "I don't want to end my life in a hospital somewhere" speech in ME2, what is he doing in ME3?

ME3 too, I figured out that Reaper Boss, was easy as excepted. Miranda who died even so it doesn't matter what choose you made, Tali, depending on siding with the geth, not sure if she still does it and Mordin died, which was automatically, and not a team member

Ven you are recalled to earth to face the music over what happened during the arrival dlc. Shepherd during arrival on his lonesome hurls an asteroid at a mass relay to prevent an early return of the reapers through batarian space.This destroys a Batarian colony which causes the batarians to declare war on the alliance. So the alliance is pissed off at Shepherd for creating such an interstellar incident.

Got another ending where everyone dies and everything explodes, I know there's a ending where everyone survives barely and the reapers are gone

There is little variance. In fact there is really three endings with small minor details that make it sixteen. The differences in the three endings consist essentially in the color of the crucible beam and whether the reapers explode or leave. Normandy still crashes Joker and squadmates emerge roll credits. Relays explode everyone is stranded at earth which has been fucking decimated. No closure or explanations.

My hope is that this ending is actually a teaser for a dlc with a real ending to the series. The theory being you were never on the crucible. Rather when you were hit with harbinger's beam you were drawn into an indoctrination process where Harbinger or the Catalyst attempts to indoctrinate you into accepting the Reaper's ideology and adapting it as your own. The only choice that gets you to see Shepherd take an inhale back on earth is the destroy the Reapers option which seems to me a rejection of cooperation. The control and synthesize options being instant death options where Shepherd is indoctrinated. This theory hinges on the boy back on Earth that Shepherd sees both in his dreams and as the catalyst as not a real boy at all, but a ghostly hallucination brought on to wear Shepherd down until he can be indoctrinated by them. If this is an appropriate reading it is on the one hand pretty brilliant, but on the other hand totally unseemly as they released an unfinished game that they plan to sell us an ending for for an additional ten dollars.

Either that or the writing staff were drinking as they finished up the final sequence.

Hmm well then I hope that you're right and we'll get a proper ending later, but I doubt it though, since after the credits another scene played where you saw a father telling stories to his son about "The Shepard" and how he saved the galaxy.
Which wouldn't really make sense if it wasn't the real ending..

So it was a fun game.

The story was not as good as the other two. There was no real character development like what you saw in ME2.

BUT, the fighting was indeed more enjoyable, and more challenging. Banshees are THE DEVIL.

The environments were pretty cool.

There weren't any of those really annoying/repetitive scanning/hacking minigames.

I spent more time having fun than not having fun.

I am still really bummed about how little attention they paid to the other still-living party members from ME2. I don't see why they couldn't have just let us have them in our party ... They already had all the animations and everything from ME2.

One thing that really annoyed me was that Thane got ran through by Kai Leng and died in a hospital, but no one said a single word about it -AT ALL- until Shepard eventually killed Kai Leng and went "And that was for Thane". But then that was it. Seriously? Even though Miranda lived in my game, Tali spent like 10 minutes semi-mourning her drunkenly. But no love for the drell :(

Anyway, I spent more time enjoying it than not.

The endings were a massive cop-out letdown.

However I laugh about poor Tali, who has finally regained her home world, only to be stranded in Sol or whatever other system she winds up in, where all relays back to Rannoch have been destroyed ...
