Here's something I created with the free version of Construct2.
Help Dr.Shivo escape into the moon with his stolen money.
Place some fireworks on the rocket and when you're ready hit launch and control the rocket by activating/deactivating your fireworks.
For the best experience I recommend playing this game with Google Chrome or Internet Explorer, cause the game uses a lot of audio controlling.

PLAY THE GAME HERE:

This is just plain fun! To say you control the rocket with the fireworks had me confused at first, but you get it when you keep trying. The sound is particularly impressive and overall you can definitely see a good game here. Very solid graphics. But that laugh as he jumps in the rocket had me sold.

I know you're building on it, I would just like to say that if rockets (1) (2) and (3) could be bound to their respective number keys, it might be easier than clicking each individually. I was able to get all 3 stars though.

(Also, if you're testing and miss a star, just let the rocket go for a while. It's hilarious.)

God dammit! Some of these late comers are making such amazing games!

I really enjoyed playing this, and would love to see it with more levels, and maybe even more fireworks eventually!

Also just wondering, since I seem to be having a problem streaming music (I end up with a 5 second delay, even longer with some people), how did you work around it? Because it all started instantly for me. And I thought the custom loading bar at the start was a nice touch, I need to make one now D: Any tips? (I forgot a lot of HTML and stuff, lol... unless it's just a pseudo loading bar so you can preload your music... why didn't I think of that?!)

Nice to hear positive feedback:). I don't use any preloading for my audio. I have exported and overwrited audio files that construct created with the ones I exported from Audacity, I'm also using quite heavy compression for them. I usually also try to keep my audio files as short as possible and I think this is important.

Hmm yeah, probably doesn't help that the songs I'm using are 2 and 3 minutes long... meh, I'll try and find a way around it, lol.

The art style for this game is positively ADORABLE. I literally LOL'd when I failed, how cute is that.
Lovely use of sound and music, as well.
It's pretty challenging :O
I especially am a big giant fan of using the entire browser window for the game instead of only a small box.
(Not suitable for every game made, but with this game, it makes a ton of sense.)

I would like to recommend that you still make a level complete-able, even if you don't collect all stars. Consider ... The stars you get count as points, which add up to trophies at levels' ends. If you don't get them all, but you meet some base minimum requirement, you can still move on, but you get a crummy trophy rating. If you don't manage to meet the minimum requirement, the rocket poops out and the scientist falls out. If you meet or exceed it, it blasts off satisfyingly :)

You know, add some more incentive for doing well, but not discipline for not being perfect.

OK. I have made my last update to the game. There was lot of things I would have loved to implement, but with the competition limitations couldn't. Like I would have love to make bigger moon rockets, more levels and alot more fireworks to control them. Keyboard controlled camera, hotkeys and touch support for phones and tablets. I hope everybody can enjoy the game.

Nice game Nemo :) I tested it on a 15.5 inch monitor, and a 27 inch monitor, and the full screen mode displays perfectly on both. I know from experience this is a lot of work, and not easily accomplished. The game play was also very fun, and addictive. I think this would be one of those games that would do very well on the mobile market.

Great job! And good luck with the contest :)

Thank you Wink. Making fullscreen games with construct2 does take lot of time with all the testing. I would love to take Dr. Shivo to phones and tablets, but first I would need to figure out a nice way to rotate those fireworks with the touch commands.

That's definetly awesome!

I had no problem with FPS with that game, my resolution is 1600 x 900 and it goes good performance, i was figuring out how to make to finish level 1, i didn't get at all, i placed some rockets at this shuttle, then i clicked launch button... it starts ignition and doesn't launch, i had no idea how it works, but i clicked coloured rocket buttons and it works! it was nice addictive game.

Interactive tutorial would be nice because this game seems innovative.

Good luck!

Thanks joannesalfa. I agree that the game requires interactive tutorial. I don't think any game should be started with a challenge, on how to play the game. I think with all this nice positive feedback my game has received, I'm encouraged to make it a whole lot longer game. Maybe also to HBGames arcade when/if it opens.

what are you talking about. This is still an amazing idea and maybe with a bit more polish and development this could be something big. This game screams IPHONE.

I don't believe Dr. shivo is a bad game, in my opinion, it's well done game if you make new features, interactive tutorials, performance and stability that you can release to marketing. It's not a pretext.

About the judging wasn't perfect, but there a reward is your experience, i think you should to get rid of your sadness and keep developing games. :thumb:
